Hansel and the WitchOne. Two. Three.  Every sound resonates in the dreary room: the thud of a heart; the gasps of breath; the drip of blood. In this world of pain and games, there is so much to listen to—yet no one to hear it but Hansel and the Witch.  "When does this Feast finish?" Hansel asks. He sits, head bowed, on a wooden chair in the middle of the empty room. The afternoon sun slants through a gap in the curtains, basking him in its warmth. But he doesn't feel the sun. my teacher entered that story in some fancy dancy Australian short story competition. it made it to the finals (god knows how it got there out of the millions of stories that were sent in) so it gets to be published in some fancy dancy book, or something like that ...
